Welcome to the website of Mackay Athletics Club Inc.

(Incorporated Association Number 32318)

 

Our club offers members the benefits of Athletics North Queensland (ANQ) Membership.  ANQ is the major regional provider of athletics, development and competition and supports all ages from 3 to 99.

 

Our Club facilities are located at the Mackay State High School Sports Grounds via English Street, Mackay.  Club Competition Days are held Saturday afternoons from March to September.

 

 

NEWS IN BRIEF  (Updated 21 June 2009)

 

· Throws Training Clinic.  Cameron Quirk will be conducting a training clinic on Shot Put, Discus and Javelin.  To be held on Thursday 9 July during the school holidays at the club house.  The cost is $5 per event for Members or $10 for non members.  Parents are welcome to stay to help, listen, ask questions.  If they want to participate in the events a $5 fee will apply.

· Introduction to Athletic Coaching Course.  On Sunday 5 July, our club will be hosting an Introduction to Athletics Coaching Course by Shaun Lethem for those interested.  The cost is $88.00 but the club may subsidise this for parents of members registered with our club (LIMITED VACANCIES).  We expect this will dramatically improve instructions given at club competition days.  For more information please call James Grech on 0431 973 129 or email mail@mackayathletics.com.au

 

 

· Mackay Interclub Meet great success.  Many thanks to the athletes and their families from Mackay, Sarina and Slade Point Athletics Clubs for making the day a great success.  We also thank everyone who helped with the events or worked at the canteen and to those who helped set up and pack up.  Photos and results now online.

 

 

· One Day Coaching Clinic.  Athletics North Queensland will be conducting a one (1) day Coaching Clinic in Townsville on Friday July 10 2009.  The clinic will be conducted at the Townsville Sports Reserve.  Athletes of any ability from 9 years are welcome to attend.  All of the coaches are Level V and will have just concluded the Oz Squad camp.  Coaches, parents, teachers and others are invited to attend as observers.   School athletes are encouraged to attend. Please note: Emphasis will be placed on athletes up to 14 years of age in the morning session and on athletes 15 years and over in the afternoon session. · Wet Weather Info Line.  Due to the nature of Athletics being held outdoors, for the safety of all athletes it may be necessary to cancel events or club competition days due to the wet grounds.  Cancellation notices are usually published on the home page of this website on the day of competition or you can call 0417 707 157 after 8am on the day of competition for information.
