2012 SEASON SET TO START

The club calendar and program is now set for the 2012 season of Athletics with the clubs Sign-On and Information Day set for Saturday 25 February at the club house located on the grounds of Mackay State High School.  The following week, Saturday 3 March will be an orientation to athletics so new members can see the events in action and give it a go.

The club calendar has a good mix of club days, local and North Qld Region carnivals all of which members may compete in.

Mackay Athletics Club is not just for littlies but also adults.  Our association with North Queensland Athletics allows an age range of 4 through to 99.

The club also offers new members to the club a trial period which allows new members, two consecutive club competition days to see if they like it.  The cost is only $10.00 for the two weeks.  If the athlete continues membership the $10.00 paid comes off the full membership price.    CLICK HERE TO READ MORE

GROUNDS PREPARATION

We need assistance to help prepare the grounds ready for the season start.  Saturday 18 February from 9am is the day set to complete, mowing, whipper snipping, trimming, cultivating  and most importantly, line marking.  This tasks requires the assistance of six people.  If you are able to assist in these tasks or ned more information, please call James Grech  on 0431 973 129.

MACKAY ATHLETICS LAUNCHES WEBSITE FOR MOBILE DEVICES

Do you have a Smart Phone, I-Pod, I-Pad or Tablet.  Mackay Athletics now has a website designed for smaller screens.  When you connect onto our home page, say OK to the question or click on the link on the right hand side.  The website has handy club information for you when you are on the move.

$20,900 RECEIVED IN GRANTS FROM QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT

The club has been successful in receiving two grant funding applications from the Queensland Government.  $15,900.00 from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to purchase a new line marker and a new zero turn mower.  $5,000.00 was also received in the Depts of Sport & Recreation Active Inclusion Grant in which help fund coaching courses in the Mackay District through the year.
